“Rock bottom is just the beginning of an incredible comeback story.”

About John

John Mathews is a seasoned executive, speaker, and author whose life story embodies resilience and the power of personal transformation. At age 22, John faced rock bottom, battling an opioid addiction that threatened his life. With determination, mental strength, and support from a Methadone clinic, he overcame his addiction and committed himself to rebuilding his life.

In the two decades that followed, John became a proud father and pursued a career dedicated to public service and leadership. Starting as a dual-certified firefighter/paramedic, he advanced to Director of the Emergency Management Agency and then Assistant Mayor for Sevier County Emergency Services. There, he successfully led thousands of responders through Tennessee's largest disaster—the 2016 Gatlinburg wildfires. He later served as vice president of a multi-million-dollar company before founding JM Consulting, where he continued his leadership journey.

Today, John provides expert guidance in leadership development, operational effectiveness, strategic problem-solving, and executive coaching through JM Consulting. His forthcoming book, Wisdom at a Cost, shares valuable insights into survival, resilience, and leadership, reinforcing his lifelong commitment to inspiring others to achieve personal growth.

As a speaker, John shares his experiences to encourage, educate, and motivate individuals and teams, emphasizing the importance of setting meaningful goals, cultivating resilience, and embracing positive growth.
